  • December is off to a wild start!

Our furnace and water heater decided they had worked long enough, and need to be retired. Tomorrow a new duo will be installed plus a new air conditioner since the old one won't work with the new system!

Last week, my car decided to get sick, and the steering assembly had to be repaired.

My vacumn power head developed a problem, so it is in the shop being repaired. It is a central vac system, so luckily I can still tidy up with the other parts.

My husband's beloved animated lit outdoor moose was stolen.

My daughter's totalled car has now been replaced.

SO....I'm ready for the JOY of Christmas now!

My shopping is done, and I am ready to wrap presents. The house is decorated, and 2 trees are up. The real one will wait another week.

I have th ehouse to myself for a couple of days, and I intend to get lots done. My youngest daughter is off to Michigan for a wedding, but when she returns we are going to spend a day or two baking Christmas goodies!

    HAPPY CHRISTMAS SEASON EVERYONE!!!

  • Dear xanga....how I have negelcted you!!!

Life has been rather stressful and busy lately.

My oldest daughter was in a car accident that totalled her car. While she was minimally hurt, and it was not her fault....much time has been spent with insurance companies, and the search for a new car. Yesterday...we found one! She picks it up Saturday.

My husband has been working 12 hour days, has had 2 position changes, and may be moving away again...back to Atlanta. First trip will be Monday next week.

I've been doing all kinds of extra events with our youth in a program called "DO SOMETHING". Designed to encourage them to think about the needs of people around them....we are all finding ways to serve our community. We handed out 500+ hangers in my neighborhood this week to collect gently used coats for those less fortunate. We handed out free coffee one rainy morning at the commuter bus stop. The kids have given up internet, their phones, tv, beds etc for a week or more to remind them of those who don't have even the simple things. AND we are all committed to raising $2 a day for 7 weeks. The money will be split between Speed the Light (providing vehicles for missionaries), Mocha Club (caring for people in one of the poorest areas in Kenya), and a third charity yet to be chosen by our youth.

Packing Thanksgiving meals at the food bank yesterday, collecting items for "Gifts for Soldiers", and shopping to provide gifts for kids in families from the community that can't afford anything this Christmas. (They contacted our church for help....and so far we are providing entire Christmas gifts and food for 34 families!!!)

Along with the fall work around our own house...we've been pretty much busy 24/7!

Whatever you are doing at this special time of THANKS....I hope you too have found ways to GIVE too!

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

  • Last weekend was jam packed with activity...Fall Fair Saturday and a Hoedown Sunday.

This week I worked 2 days, and filled the off days with little projects around the house. Paint touchups, finishing getting all the annuals out of the garden, trimming the bushes, raking leaves, and taking it all to the yard waste recycling center.

My husband was in California all week, but returns this evening. Tomorrow we are off to Baltimore to spend the day with out oldest daughter.

I can't believe it is the end of October already!!!

I have managed to get most of my Christmas shopping done ... just a few more gifts to acquire, and stocking goodies. Before I know it...the baking will begin!!

  • Busy week.

Spent Monday cleaning the house and doing laundry.

    Tuesday I worked from 6:30am-5pm.

Wednesday was errand day...bank, groceries, hair cut, post office and paperwork at home.

Today...a couple of hours helping set up for our church fall fair this Saturday. Then home to wash my car, mow the lawns, put down grass seed, and pull out the rest of the summer flowers.

Friday is laundry and anything else that needs to be done before Monday.

Saturday is the church Fall Fair...all day, then clean up.

Sunday is church in the morning and our youth Hoedown in the evening!

    WHEW!

Last week, my husband and I took an impromptu trip to Canada!! We had been trying to go for the past 2 months...and everything aligned to allow it finally!!

I had the opportunity to visit a friend from my church that I hadn't seen since we were teens!!

    Clara an me

Then I had an evening with my college roommate...who I also hadn't seen since we graduated!! (no pic...oops!!)

With visits to some of my favorite growing up places...it was a super little holiday!!

This is Sharon Temple...it has an amazing story. Built based on Solomon's Temple...it is filled with symbolism. One of my favorite things are the doors on each side. They  represent that ALL may enter equally!

The Ark of the Covenant...with a bible inside open to the Ten Commandments. There was no pulpit...all the chairs face the Ark....representing God as Center!

    ark of the coveneant

Jacob's Ladder...the staircase to the musicians loft.

The water I spent my childhood on ...Lake Simcoe!

    Keswick 2

A hike in the woods in the fall...perfect!!!
